The dream, right?! Well, for my husband at least. Unfortunately for him, however, this one was not for us.
A privately owned home gym, but a future-proofed, flexible space, which can also be used for garden parties, sports event watching, and teenage get-togethers.
The most crucial design composition here was the lighting plan and electrical points. I didn’t want cables running all over the gym floor, or downlights shining down on, well, nothing, but a meticulous plan with gym equipment layout, and lighting which wouldn’t offend or blind the eye during that 6am training session, but a soft light washing the walls beautifully, sockets in the floor carved around the Karndean, and overhead lights highlighting only the equipment. All on various circuits too, to help shape-shift the space depending on the mood and function.
I worked closely with my wonderful clients, Matthew and Vicky, on this one; working through their meticulous and tasteful plan to realise this very beautiful space. I have to say, the equipment looks almost too delicious to use – it really does feel more like an art gallery than it does a gym, but nevertheless, I for one would be more than happy to raise a weight or two in here.
If only all gyms looked this good.
